An alternative to MovieMaker? Subject description: What do you suggest? |
 |
|
I can't run MovieMaker anymore as some of it's codecs got changed while I was de-bugging the random freeze issue in Fallout-3.
I can't re-install it either as it's only available as part of the SP2 upgrade. It would mean purposely downgrading the install and then re-installing SP2 and then upgrading to SP3 again. (and that would probably render Fallout-3 unplayble) Is that stupid or what?
Anyway, I know there must be some decent video programs out there, and I was wondering what you all might suggest?
I need to be able to capture from a FireWire(1394) digital camcorder and do very basic editing. Save as .avi or .wmv would be fine.
I need this fixed so I'll be able to post some movies of what my latest experiments (see - ReAnimator) are doing on my scope. |

VirtualDub is tops for capture and basic editing. It's free.
If you need to do more complex editing (cut and paste, compositing, etc.), Avid Free is no longer available but you might be able to find it somewhere. Wax is ok for certain tasks.
If you don't mind paying for software, there are lots of choices. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Andy, you could always install a Hackintosh partition on your PC, and take advantage of iMovie. Then you could choose from;

or
http://boinx.com/boinxtv/overview/
or a whole heap load of freeware stuff too.
Seriously.  _________________ ACHTUNG!

Sorry Tom,
I still have a chronic Quicktime infection. There is no way I'd even look sideways at anything remotely related to a Mac. |
