Subject description: featuring the MPS, Yusynth Clock Dividers, and MFOS Voltage Quantizer

I'm pleased to share this improvised track that utilizes some of my newly-built modules -- namely 2 MPS (Mega Percussive Synthesizer), Yusynth clock dividers, and the MFOS Voltage Quantizer.

My Aries synth started life as a keyboard synthesizer designed for multi-track recording. These new modules propel the instrument into the world of improvisation and I feel that I'm just kind of scratching the surface.

As I continue to build modules (next to be finished is the Klee Sequencer) I am attempting to give the synthesizer capabilities as a compositional tool with strong real-time control.

In this track, I use the keyboard (actually, I sum it with the output of the Voltage Quantizer that is being fed from the Aries sequencer (a basic 8x2 unit). Thus, the pitches are the sum of what I play and what the sequencer plays.

The middle section took on a life of its own and I had a lot of fun with the MPS units.

Hope you like this.

Wow Kevin, sounds great! It felt like it had the energy of an improvisational piece, but didn't seem just 'random,' does that make sense? Like you were very creatively directing the sound in interesting way.

Good stuff,

It's a good sign when you can hear that the artist takes themselves seriously, and yet you can't make out even the faintest whiff of pretention. It's a fine balance which you seem to hit consistently Kevin.
Inspiring and comfortable.
Well done.
