Hey guys!
I've been trying to design a pcb for just a single Bass++ voice (the electronic peasent version). I've been using the free version of Eagle and the small size board they allow you is making it almost impossible! Has anyone laid one of these out? Doesn't have to be the EP version. Thanks!

here, i'll post my eagle schematic file, in case someone more talented than myself wants to give it a shot. Thanks!

I am curious about what makes it impossible. Is it because it can't route the design into the board size constraint? If so, maybe changing from DIP to SOIC packages will make it fit. Also, using SMT or 1/8 watt standard axial or thru hole resistors would help you fit the design. I don't want to assume.

Are you willing to to have a PCB manufactured from an Express PCB file? If so, maybe I can hack up my quad version into a single one. You did mention a version I am not familiar with. Is it different than the TH version? If so, what are the deltas? Am I asking too many questions? lol ....... Laughing MIne is strictly a TH version. No mods.

OK, lets see what we can do for you. Wink

It's a combination of the size of the board and probably my inexperience with the program. i'm really not set up to do SMT or afford manufactured boards, but thank you so much for the offer and tips. Definately appreciated!

PickNick, you are the man! thank you so much! i'll have to post some pics and soundfiles when i get it all put together! I love EM!

also, here is the modded version I was talking about. I believe the EP posts on this forum, and if he's reading this, I love your site and kind of want to live out in the wilderness like you! haha anyways here's the link

thank you guys!
i will post the details soon.
i made this layout in the board editor,
because i always have some problem with the autorouter...
after that i used Gimp for the makeup:)
there is 3 jumpers.
maybe there is some error in the names...
i will double check the file and upload
if it's not problem for Bill and Thomas.
i planning to make another version with sweep decay,
because i don't like so much the EG now.
i looking for some more controllable bass drum sound.
now i use XRVCO, Ian Fritz Dual AD/AR, MFOS VCA and Wasp filter
to create my funny HardBass Sound:)

sorry for my english...too much beer in the past:)

hehh...
you are really fast!
there is some rules//not mine// in this forum if you post some layout.
like...you have to put Thomas Henry name to the board...etc
i will do this in Gimp soon...

uhh
i hope i'm better than google translate:)

Thanx PickNick, your PCB looks nice. I have also drawn one with Inkscape on GNU/Linux as my first PCB artwork, but I don't have C3-C6, I don't understand where to install it.

Is it not relevant to install C3-C6?

On mine I have obtained shorter jumpers, a on-board mod to put double and triple C2 capacity for a switch to obtain standard, bass and sub-bass sounds. I have tried to put an audio input and injected noises and shimmers to try to create snares and others metallic sounds, but without positive results.

I like so much to feed the BASS++ output to a waveshaper or a bit-cruncher and then into a vcf for obtain funny drum sounds.

Now I'm very curios to understand the C3-C6 function and location ...and to try the WAVE mod.

I have found my PDF file... Please don't laugh at me because this is my very first time for a PCB Artwork.

sorry for the long delay.
i didnt check the whole pcb yet...
some parts name are mislabeled after i added the wave mod.
but inlifeindeath already built it...so i hope its works.
good luck with it!

yeah, there's some mis-labeling. I just made sure to follow the schematic before i installed anything on the board.

If I may interject:

Quote:

C3,4,5,6 are 0.01 uF ceramic disk bypass capacitors that mount close to the power pins of IC 1 and 2. They are not shown on the schematic but, instead, are included as a note in the original TH schematic. I don't see these capacitors on any of the layouts just to give a heads up Wink

oops...
i did some changes,
and i uploaded again the new pcb file.
here it is the 4 ceramic caps places.
i hope its close enough to the ICs.
i did it gimp...so i don't have an updated doc file.

thanx Bill, I have read some text's about the bypass capacitors, maybe understand a bit. I wanna try to build the last PickNick's PCB, and thank him for the new one, hopefully with the bypass caps the stability of the audio output level results improved Smile

Your most welcome. They do make the world of difference. The general rule is one cap per supply pin on every IC in a design. Generally as close as practically possible. I usually use 0.1 uF capacitors on everything.

Also feedback capacitors in operational amplifier circuits help keep oscillations under control. They form low pass filters with the feedback resistor but you must make sure you calculate a value such that you pass your intended band of frequencies but cut off the unwanted ones.

hi all!

i made a new documentation for the single-side Bass++.
you have to connect the A-A, B-B and D-D pads.
i left the C12 elko...you have to install between the Impact Tone-Impact Volume pots.
use the original and Electronic Peasant
schematic to find the right part values.
i hope the part names now are ok!
pls let me know if you find some error.

Peter

Hi PickNick

sorry if disturb again

i realised that there is many errors between the schematic in the first post and your layout , so i'm much confused Smile

please have you the schematic update of your layout to share ? .

if schematic update no exist , even the pcb top layout with cap and resistor value can help me a lot .

thank you in advanced
