Install The G2 Editor and use it just for the g2 .
any comments ?

I think this would make a good hardware companion for synths .
i.e . editor librarians ,soft synths,mp3playback,etc...

Only thing here re the G2 editor ( uh... as welll as the NM1 editor ).. these apps do need a certain screen real estate. What is the resolution of these displays?

and your right absolutely tiny screen low resolution - comes with some strange Linux back windows looking front hybrid thing. I think its pretty easy to install something else though

I installed debian on the old 7G surf and it worked pretty well. I had use pretty big buffers to get rid of audio dropouts. It's a pretty good field recorder - the built in audio interface has crazy dc offset for some reason though. It would be perfect for a librarian or sequencer. I was able to run softsynths on it too.
