Prblms with G2 (PC reboots / performances not loaded corr) ! |
|
|
some strange things are happening.
I'm working in my sequencer (cubase sx2.0) and have both midi in/out connected to a midex8 and a channel assigned to the G2x by adding a channel and selecting it and midi-local off < a quite normal situation right?
I dail-up a performance, 1: early autumn for instance. What happens is that all patches in the perf. are loaded incorrectly; the G2X messes up by giving me all kinds of weird patch combinations.
Only when i disconnect the G2X's midi in from the PC and then re-dail the performance it's loaded correcty. When doing this all slots are assigned to midi-channel 1 in the system-settings< that could be it
Another thing, while finding out what the above could be i powered off the G2X and when doing that my PC rebooted instantly!
Pc problem or G2X problem? |

Two problems I think.
The rebooting thing makes no sense to me, what OS are you running ? Maybe a bad USB driver.
The weird loading behaviour looks like a MIDI loop, the G2 sending patch changes that get sent back through the PC to the G2, probably a settings issue in cubase.

This happens consistently on my PC too, when I switch my G2 off while the editor is not running. I run Windows XP on an Asus A7N8X-E DeLuxe motherboard.
(Now I am also a happy owner of an Apple iBook that I use for the G2 editor, so I haven't tried debugging the problem further.)

No one else has this problem? It's indeed consistent.. whenever the editor is running and the G2(x) is shut off, my PC shut's off too..
I'm running Win XP and this is definitely something that needs fixing! |

I just tried the power-off thing and my XP machine didn't blink. I am running the latest beta G2 software so my test may not do much to comfort you. Maybe if you gently rub the side of your G2 and chant ancient Viking odes you'll get a new software release with USB enhancements soon. Hey, you never know... _________________ --Howard

Funny,
I hope it will help! _________________ Best,
