Thanks... actually Dennis Moser has kept this idea alive and reminded me about it a couple days ago.
Summer seems like a good time ... with lots of sounds and more free time to do these things! _________________ ElectroCasa |

I'll probably just stick the mics out the studio windwo and leave it running ... can't guarantee we'll be able to hear much more than wind (this IS Wyoming, after all...) _________________ Try me ... ... said the Dalai Lama to the hot-dog vendor, "Make me one with everything." |

Brilliant idea! I'm planning on setting up a mic for this.
At daytime, there's often people talking and kids playing on the yard below. I've gotten good results from my condenser mic before, but one issue is low frequency bursts with high amplitude caused by wind hitting the mic. Does anyone have an idea about how to counter this?

Windshield ... you can improvise with (cotton) wool and maybe a sock or something - out in the fields keep the mic down to the ground in long grass preferrably. _________________ Jan

Today was the first day of hurricane season so if I'm lucky I might get something interesting unless the power goes out In which case I will record with battery op device for archival use. |

I would like to participate, either from our new house or from the busy street where our cafe is. Maybe both... Should have settled in by then. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

I will be in when not travelling. Perhaps I am in France then, perhaps not. Totally depends on the amount of money I have left _________________ Weblog! |

Sure, I'll mic the bird feeders. Too bad we'll miss the dawn chorus here, but at least I won't have to get up so early. _________________ When the stream is deep

Stream ops: can you mix in external radio streams?
IF I can get a live stream up on radio.audiodef.com, I can use that and my port can be given to other people for this event. Just wondering if that would be helpful in spreading out resources...
I haven't done this yet, but I thought I'd see if you guys think it would help. |

Yes, that is possible, I'm not too worried about the resources used though.
And ... before everyone starts doing this ... it would be a bit troublesome for the mixers to have an overview over what ports are up - still I'm sure someone would mix you in when you'd announce your stream details in the chat. _________________ Jan

Well, if you're not too worried about it, I'll just use my port if that's easier for the stream ops. |

I have been rehearsing with the birds. I like Dale's idea of using a bird feeder. I will see if I can either make one or pick one up. Thanks to Dennis Mosher for remembering the discussion of this idea. It is truly an idea whose time has come!

With luck a squirrel will go after the feeders here, and then our dogs can break into a rousing chorus of, "Stop that f***ing squirrel!" _________________ When the stream is deep
