OK, I've actually got some new gear I haven't posted here yet.
Nord Micro (I always wanted one so I finally broke down and got it. Before anyone gets into modular synthesis, they owe it to themselves to get one of these first. Wowzer, what a bargain!)
Alesis IOdock (Worth every penny if you are tired of the mini plug falling out of the headphone jack during a performance. The MIDI IO and the Mic/Line inputs are a nice plus. Great sounding audio out - with a volume control!)
The missing link (great for using the iPad as a wireless OSC or MIDI controller for your MIDI hardware - no computer required!)

Could this thing work with the Fender Ashbory silicon stringed fretless bass guitar?

Yes, although technically I own the DeArmond re-issue. I didn't bother with the powder, just made sure the Ashborys' active electronics didn't pose a problem. As usual, the only problem on the Ashbory is me. I've yet to compare the tracking on all my basses but the Ashbory seemed fine, that is, if you can play it in the first place.
The criticism of the Sonus units is not totally without merit, for instance there is no way to play quick runs (or quick anything really) with it and if you aren't willing to change your technique you wont get good results.
There's a great Lee Sklar video:

Fun stuff, I've just been using a Korg M3, later this weekend I'll be plugging up the Taurus 3 and Kawai K5000S. To hell with electro-music, I'm going for pop-rock with a very high WTF? factor! |

Is it possible to adjust the pitch bend range? As I recall with my Godin xtsa -- it's been a while since I used this aspect of it -- setting the bend range fairly high avoids getting discrete noteon messages when bending and sliding and hammering across greater than semitone intervals. The bends, slides and hammers come out as pitch bend messages, whereas the original pick (I finger pick) comes out as a noteon. That would work for a fretless bass. _________________ When the stream is deep

I guess my pitch bend range adjustments were actually on the Roland GR-33 guitar synth that generates the MIDI signals, not on the guitar. In any case, I was surprised at how well slides chokes and hammers worked in creating pitch bends instead of a bunch of discrete noteon noteoff messages. _________________ When the stream is deep

Apple iPad 2
Got it the day after Steve quit planet earth.
Was on the fence about it,(me being broke)
,but I sold a Korg entrancer video kaoss pad on ebay and used the profits. Steves death was a good way to remember the day I brought it home.

No photo yet, but grabbed the Korg Monotribe new on Friday. Absutively in love with it and can't wait to begin modifying it.
It should work great with my modular and MIDI gear (once I do the MIDI mod. for it as well.) |

Best price ever! Free!
Well.. almost.. two decent bottles of wine.
Now it seems the problem is not the battery. I´ll have to spend more time finding the problem. I need schematics and hopefully there is a service manual available somewhere out there on the net. This will have to be a project for late winter/spring. I have too much stuff on my list for now. The first thing I have on my list is building another cabinet for the dotcom modular. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Lucky you. It is going to be so satisfactory to be able to revive it and listen to it one day.

I agree with Dr J. Oh, and what kind of guitar is that, actually? _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.
