Hello |

Hi, I just joined. I built the SoundLab nearly a year ago (?) and have really enjoyed using it since. Mine is the blue and red one built into an old breadbox that says "Mystery Circuits" on the front and back. I'm really glad I patched it out. It creates a lot of possibilities for experimenting and interfacing with other devices! A few weeks ago, I probed around a video effects switcher with the osc and lfo outs. It created some fun visuals on my TV! Tonight I'm going to use it in the studio on my friends record. He wants some old sci-fi flying saucer sounds and some alien voices. I rigged up a 9v battery to a photoresistor, and coupled it with an amplitude dependant LED circuit (color organ circuit with microphone). So the amplitude of my voice (or anything acoustic) controls the level of control voltage. This is routed to the oscillators and filter cut off frequency. I'm going to use that for the alien voices (pending my friend's approval).
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. If there's any advice I can offer from having completed the project, let me know! _________________ -Mike Walters

Hi, thanks everyone. I just got back from the studio where I recorded with the SoundLab. Good stuff was had! I also used my instrument Globotron. Lots of fun.
Has anyone used their SoundLab on their records or live? I'd love to hear some stuff.
I think it's really neat how this forum has a spell check. _________________ -Mike Walters

Mike, cool gadget the joystick controller.
Did you write an article about how to build that?
Oh, and where did you get the joystick? |

Hey thanks. It's actually really easy to build. Contact me off list if you want some schematics. My email address is mike@mysterycircuits.com
As far as the joystick itself, I bought that at Goodwill for a $1. I can't remember the brand name, but they're very common. I used the very innards of the device, taking the shell of the actual joystick. It originally had a button on top, but I replaced that with an LED. _________________ -Mike Walters
