Hi guys

Anyone has good advices on how to improve sequencer patches on the G2?

In most of my music I always use the G2 basic sequencers, but was wondering what ways can I build nicer blocks with more possibilities.

I'd like to get a "big" sequencer like the Cirklon and so on, but I really enjoy the simplicity and workflow of the Nord Modular, and I'm pretty sure it can do way more than what I've been able to achieve so far with it Smile

So if anyone has good suggestions, please drop them here Smile

Thanks in advance,
Best

Paulo

Here are some sequencer-based things I came up with:

Sequencer with forwards, backwards and skip step functionality:

Pattern arpeggiator sequencer (monophonic):

Pattern arpeggiator sequencer (polyphonic):

Whats cool about the G2 sequencers is that you can imbed sequences within sequences. With that and the logic delays, you can get everything a 960 can do and more.

This patch is just an example I whipped up over a few sips of beer, not programming art...

And get Soundlab.

There are no best ways in building sequencers.
There are other ways, from copies of exciting hardware sequencers to ones for specific needs.

yeah, there's so much you can do. When I have been sequencing lately, i've been using sequences that are restricted to 8 steps so they are easy to edit from the g2 interface. Then I change the pattern length to anything from 1-8 steps long on different sequences and let the phasing rhythms create some cross-rhythms.

I'm also big into using the randomization modules--especially for drums, putting a probability of the drum "happening" makes them sound much more alive. I put all kinds of probabilties in my patches--probabilities for an accent on a sound, for retriggering a "roll" or things like that.
