I have a amd64 system also, windows7, but I'm not having any trouble with libusb-win32. I know libusb-win32 is giving a bit of trouble with some systems, sometimes trying another version of libusb helps.

It's impossible for me to try out all configurations and libusb is a black box for me also, but I made a little diagnostic tool, maybe we can help each other out a bit to post here wat versions work depending on os / cpu.

So the diagnostic tool just shows the log when setting up the usb connection and when all goes well downloads the startup data from the g2. In some cases the setup hangs at the "set USB configuartion" stage, in that case try another (newer) libusb-win32 version.

To try the tool, the clavia driver should be installed already on your system and you should have installed the libusb-win32 as a filter driver on the clavia driver, just the same as you need to do for using the nmg2 os editor.

I've tried the open source editor. The Driver and Resonator modules are awesome!

i really dont understand why they are left out in the original editor.

I've managed to install the Filter driver.
and found a problem.

Both programs do work seperatly. but only if i disconnect the usb cable after shutting down the editor and connect it again. Same issue both ways with original editor and open source editor.

Hi all

It would be good to contact Clavia to implement these few functional modules into a new firmware. Not so much work to create a completely new modules.

Sorry my translator english Smile

I think they would have done this if there were no issue with these modules. Has someone noticed any bug or something?

I think that in this case is better to implement several modules with the remark "use at your own risk" than anything. Because there is no chance of new modules.

the modules work just fine. no bugs found.
there are loads of high quality sounds availeble using the driver module.
wich is able to work like sort of fm/pm. and the resonator has this possibility to create great tones by changing the pitch or position.

the modules work fine with the g2 hardware, no firmware update needed.
the only thing clavia must do is just add those modules in the original editor.

We have been waiting long enough for that. and hope is lost on clavia's end.
So for now we are relying on Brunov's developments.

as i noticed not all modules work yet in the open source editor. meaning its functionality can be altered in different ways. The morph function also works differently on the open source. Possibly other new modules found by brunov can work if the right code is implemented in the open source editor.

I think it might be possible to add modulation inputs on some knobs wich diddnt have that before.

i think a lot of people don't even know about these new modules yet because mention of them is buried in this open source editior thread.

i was completely ignoring this thread for a long time because i am on a mac and therefore can't use this editor. plus the clavia editor works fine for me so... why bother? i'm sure plenty of other forum members or people who just drop by here once in a while are in the same position. it was just out of boredom that i checked in here one day and... WOW! NEW MODULES!!!

this is why i proposed splitting off discussion of these modules into it's own thread, maybe titled something like "NEW WORKING MODULES DISCOVERED IN G2!!!" so that more forum members see it. this is really the biggest news to hit the G2 scene since the G2 was originally released.

Great to see these patches! can't wait to try them! Smile

About the problem switching between editors:

Chrono wrote:

I usually also have to reset the g2 if I want to switch between the open source editor and the clavia editor, haven't been able to solve that problem yet...

What I forgot to mention is that with the open source editor it's also possible to work without an usb connection, just with midi, a bit like the old nmg1 editor. So, if you don't want to install libusb or you can't get libusb to work, you can still send these patches to the g2 using midi.

You have to set the midi ports in the application settings and set the appropriate synth settings and then you can send the current patch in the editor to the g2 as sysex with F1. You can also convert the pch2 file to a sysex file using the editor and send it to the g2 using some other midi program.

About the other hidden modules:

I have tried the other hidden modules several different ways now but sadly so far nothing worked.

Maybe you can explain a bit more what you mean?

I'm also for splitting of the last to pages of this thread to maybe a separate section in patches area, in all the excitement I posted the discovery in my usual thread and now I'm afraid to bury this news with more os editor posts.

Yeah I can split things off, good idea, will do so this evening.

And... Brunov ... would you please consider using different file extensions for the patches / performances that are not compatible with the Clavia software? I can enable those for uploads too.

Anyway, I'm afraid things will get a bit messy with patches that will not load.

Wohohoo Shocked I completely missed out on this up to now.

This is just ...
jackson dancing wave party time!

LOVE the demo mp3 of Chrono's patch using the driver/resonator combo. So clean sounding.

Too bad the SyncOsc doesn't work. But still, this is a totally amazing discovery and incredible work!

Thank you brunov!

No sorry, there is only a Windows version at the moment.

I've started a prototype for osx as you can see here, http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-48872-325.html

But I've put developement on hold because of lack of time Sad . I also really need help with the graphics and testing to develop it further.
