Looks like these beauties will be on their way soon.

One question/idea. Does any one know of a suitable pot for this project but with a centre dent? Ideally one with a 6mm shaft as that fits the knobs I am using. I am UK based but Mouser etc have UK distribution. I have seen pots for guitars with the correct value and a centre dent but I would like to look at alternatives.

Centre dent just makes sense for the design.

depends. in the past i tried several pots with center detent, and they all had two problems more or less:

1st, you will loose a bit of the fine control around the center detent, just because you have to move the pot 'over the brim' (i don't know how to describe that in english). what i mean: you have to move the potentiometer a little bit in order to make it stay where it is and not to move back into the detent. alas, you need linear pots (actually, read below), and thus you will be very interested in the area near the center for control voltages.

2nd, anytime the potentiometer goes back to the center detent the resistance is slightly different.

actually we needed a center taped potentiometer with detent, which has a log response CW from center, and an antilog response CCW from center. this could only be a custom potentiometer with a MOQ of 10.000pcs.

however, YMMV Cool

I will try a couple and see.....

The Attenuverter boards arrived today in London. Thank you very much. They are tiny, I didnt think I had all the boards I asked for when I looked at the envelope!! The size means they will fit anywhere.

Hi! Last weekend, I installed an attenuverter on a new module and it works perfectly! Look forward to adding it to some of my existing modules.

Thanks!

I used a 100K linear pot and a 100K trimpot. All the other values are as you specified on the schematic (all 1% resistors).

I used an Alpha -- I'll have to get the part number to you when I get back home.

Couldn't you add a 1M fixed from the wiper to each end of the pot, thus putting a 'hump' in it's response? Or are we looking at the reverse effect here? Just an idea.
