DOD Compressor Subject description: Looking to mod into more interesting device |
|
|
I'm a relative circuitry newbie, but I have a DOD compressor pedal that is of very little function to me at the moment. Because the music I write is experimental, I was look for an unusual sounding effect, and I was wondering if, given the design of a typical compressor, there are any odd tones I can coax out of it with some rewiring. Thanks. |

You've missed the point of circuit bending somewhere along the line: get some wires and stuff and experiment! who knows what you might get the device to do!? _________________ As a mad scientist I am ruled by the dictum of science: "I could be wrong about this but lets find out"

hi zeiss!
first i think find some schema about this pedal.
without info its easy to destroy:)
you can find tons of guitar pedal clone on the web.
maybe there is an exist clone...with tips, mods, reviews
like this:
http://tonepad.com/project.asp?id=21
compare with other designs, ideas...
there are lots of old pedals with great, expensive and rare parts.
don't destroy it:)
be smart!

My first thought is that a compressor is not really too suited for bending. First of all a compressor is a great tool as a compressor. If you haven't discovered this yet then you haven't explored what it can do. Second, bending a compressor pretty much means you are making it misbehave. A misbehaving compressor is not really too exciting. At best the misbehaving actually means it doesn't compress. That is not really too funny. And say you will make it compress more with different knees and stuff, you would still be having the device you started with.. the compressor. And being a pedal and a DOD branded one, then this probably means it can do cool things just as it is. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I agree with those guys. You could imagine using another compression source than the input… Nothing revolutionary, really. It could make it a little less boring I guess. _________________ ::U::N::S::C::H::N::E::L::L:: |

Compressor mod? |

Well, you could maybe find a point to add a key/sidechain input on a socket, which might be fun... or try using it in a pedal feedback loop? Lots of fun to be had there! |
