Intro Subject description: Advice needed |
 |
|
Hello everyone.
I've just joined- on Thursday I bought a Yamaha PSS-460 (still boxed and with manual and PSU) in a charity shop for £10.
It has some nice wee sounds, and I'm quite enjoying making melodies, although I have no musical talent as such. I have a few questions:
1. Is it ok to use the Yamaha with one of the small (8-10W) Yamaha guitar amps?
2. Would buying a second-hand Roland D-5 be a good purchase? I'd like to use a synth with a bit more features.
I like sounds of things, e.g. the environment and random sounds, so can anyone suggest a good program to run on Mac OS 10X? |

Welcome ta152c.
The D-5 is a fairly limited synth, but it has some nice features. It is getting on quite a bit now - don't pay too much for it.
A guitar amp is not made for line level signals, but I doubt it will get damaged unless you play really loud. There are no guarantees though.
Sounds like you would be interested in our Field Recordings forum.
If you want to combne and mix different sounds, you need a DAW... I saw Jan recommended Reaper in the chat. I use that and find it very good. It is quite flexible and advanced but should suit a beginner with some patience. There is a great deal of choice these days though... _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

The D-5 and folding stand are for £50, would you say that was a decent buy?
Thanks for the field recording forum link- it sounds very interesting. |
