Hello,

I was looking for a simple ADSR generator. There are some circuits based on the 555-Timer-IC. Studying schematics of old Roland analog synthesizers the use of a thyristor in one of their ADSR-circuits struck me.

This inspired me to design a simple ADSR - circuit profiting from the use of a SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier = Thyristor).

I registered the circuit at the Deutsche Patent Amt - I live in Berlin/Germany - as utility patent (Gebrauchsmuster), which is much cheaper than a patent.

Feel free to use this circuit for private purposes in Germany and for all purposes outside Germany.

Really interested in building a couple of these but the BRX44 is difficult to obtain.
Would it work with other SCR's?

Hello DUBmatze,

for the Gebrauchsmuster the registration charge is 40 Euros - 49 US-Dollar.

The term of protection is 3 years, then you have to pay a considerably higher charge for the next 3 years and so on. The maximum is 10 years.

If somebody else has registered or published the same circuit earlier, he or she can file a petition at the Patentamt to delete the Gebrauchsmuster.

Hello ejr27233,

other SCRs like EC103, 2N5060, 2N5062 should operate too, but i didn't try them.

The pots for attack, decay and release should be 5MEG instead of 1MEG for extended periods.

Thanks for that. I'll try it with 2.2meg when I've cleared my backlog.
