I am armed with a scope, a schematic and a HackMe Rockit synth that I've built. Most of it seems to work (the right lights blink when various buttons are pushed) but no sound.

I will happily pay for someone experienced to walk me through how to debug a project like this, I've hit a wall. I can come to you within a couple of hours of Providence, and I won't try to lowball your wait.

Hit me up!

loyd

It has proven amazingly difficult to find someone near here. Bump. Sad

It will probably continue to be so, but some of us might be able to help you remotely, for free even Smile.

Get the obvious questions out of the way first:

have you tried with the filter and vca all the way open?

If so, and still no sound, then you need to look for a signal; start at the output and work your way back in the audio chain -- which appears to be pretty simple based on this schematic:

I would look for some signal with the scope on pin 18 of the atmega (be careful not to short pins together). If you have a signal there, then look to see if you're getting a CV output from pin 19 (will be a PWM signal, as you adjust the output volume you should see the duty cycle change).

Belated thanks for the offer, I've found a local EE that I'm working with who has gotten intrigued by the circuit. I'll update when I know more.

If you still need any help with this, give me a call, or email or message or whatever Smile I'm only available through emails though as we're not on the same continent, but I'm an experienced synth engineer looking for work.
