2015.8.26.0

http://bluehell.electro-music.com/wren/forums.html#changes

There was a bit of a nasty bug when trying to use the unusable Friemels module (it is just a little user interface experiment really, but it would prevent Wren from quitting after having been used).

Some other minor fixes too, also I have inverted the internal coding for the 'rec' button of the Granulator modules .. which means .. when you saved them in an old Wren and reload them in this one they will be off when they were on.

A couple of new modules too, ClockedDelay16, NoteQuantizer and a lookup table thingie.

The main thing is that finally the Scala module seems to work properly Cool

I used it on some odd scalings and verified the output against what the Scala software produces for it. I did test the keyboard mappings a bit less well, but did test a regular one and an odd one.

What I did not test were keyboard mappings with holes in them. Wren can not really have holes in the mapping anyway, what Wren is supposed to do with it is that for a hole it uses the value from the step defined before.

(as the module implements a lookup table it has to give 'some' output for all possible input values. You could make the Scala files in such a way that it would output some 'special' value which could be detected with a comparator module for instance and then do some special stuff with that, like prevent an envelope to be triggered).

You can get scales and keyboard mappings from http://www.huygens-fokker.org/scala/ but also there is the Scala program itself on that site which can make such files to your own liking .. it will also tell you how to hand-craft such files.

2015.11.4.0

http://bluehell.electro-music.com/wren/forums.html#changes

Mainly a looks thing (a lot of user interface stuff is user configurable now), some bug fixes (knobs were not working properly everywhere, there was a MIDI issue and an OSC issue), and two new modules.

Gabe, known as LfoHead here, was kind enough to make a complete set of icons for the gabe looks, thanks Gabe, they are great Exclamation

The gabe look:

The default look:

But you can customize it all to your own likings, the configuration screen:

Also in the looks folder you will find examples for the bitmaps that can be changed.

Heh, don't think so Hrast ... but it turns out that modular is not so modular in a way and that for trying some new ideas I often need to make a new module somehow Shocked

But this was the idea .. to have some platform of my own that I can easily try ideas in.

Anyway, once one is in I might as well just publish it. Laughing

Ideas from other's are welcome as well BTW, but I do have limited knowledge, and can not realize all ideas or suggestions.

Yes, this is really great - to have your own platform where you can test various things.

And once you start doing this it is hard to stop - I know it perfectly well Very Happy

Hey tried using this release but had permanent dropouts.

By just connecting a single Oscillator to the output module, instead of acontinuous signal, it was an intermitent sound with dropouts.

I tried running it at 44.1k and 96k sample rate, but it did not solve the issue.

I installed back the previous verison, and the problem was solved Razz

Well, After restarting my PC now it seems to be working.

Also the Modules icons on the Modules Tab, don't show properly. This is a aestethic issue, it happens on this version, and the previous version as well.
I took a screen shot of that.

Thank you

Thanks!

Not much to see in the logs - they are not from runs that failed? (a new log is started each time Wren starts up)

And the text does not fit I see, did you set the windows font to something larger than usual?

I see I have style elements on for the module selector (and a lot of other places as well), that could be it .. you have issues with non-fitting text in other plasces too? (like in the settings screen, some text there is a bit of a tight fit too).

The logs are from runs that failed. Don't know what could have caused the problem.

I don't have issues in places other than the Modules Tab. I also have not changed the fonts size.

I just tried different visual themes, and the problem is solved.

The Windows theme is the only one with the text-fitting issues and only in the Modules Tab.

A new release .. 2016.3.5.0

I've changed something for the font size issue, not sure if this solves the problem though.

Added two new module types.

hi sergio_frias_23, welcome.

I'm not using win10 myself, but found some info : https://lists.columbia.edu/pipermail/portaudio/2015-September/000058.html

Maybe that gives some hints and maybe there is some other pre-compiled version.

Another new version 2016.5.29.0

See http://bluehell.electro-music.com/wren/forums.html#changes for details, the summary is:

The bug fixes are (for):

- CubicClip could make denormal values at some settings.

- Normalize function filters out NaNs and infinities too now

- Text changes did not mark the patch to be changed

- The 1 kHz fader for the third filter bank was wrongly named and hence that band was not working at all.

- Some bad resource locking fixed

- Sped up patch execution by around 7%

- Error in MIDI running state processing.
