Sysex Module |
 |
|
A sysex module which can be programmed for output AND input would be useful.
The output could be used to configure other synths, so it would have to accommodate some lengthy strings.
on the input side, a user could send a custom Sysex request (from an external synth or sequencer), which could be decoded only by the G2, to do just about anything. The user would need a mechanism of defining what events would occur when the command was received, and what to do with specifica Byte values in the incoming command. |

I can see how a module to send out sysex messages could be useful for some purposes, but I don't need it myself.. _________________ --Howard

The other day I was thinking about sysex out as well, as a means to set up the knob box on patch load (in case it's dip switches got messed u8p during transport). Not necesarily a module, but a genral string of MIDI of up to some tens of bytes to be sent out on patch load.

What kind of knob box?
Does it allow you to select a preset via Program Changes?
To make things easier on Clavia, and more flexible for us, would be a module which allows the user to send any kind of midi messages.
However, if they would provide raw message capability, it wouldn't be as convenient as a dedicated module for sysex, where we would just fill in the , Mfg ID, Sysex ID, and all the bytes before the closing 7F. |

Doepfer pocket control, I didn't go into the details really but from skimming the manual it seems possible to define evey knob's behaviour through sysex.
Sets of knob definitions can beorganized in a preset.
If it is possible to select a preset through sysex I don't know, the manual is pretty unreadable without printing it first (which I didn't).
