JH Living Vocoder - Modular PCBs (with SMT components) |
|
|
Hi everyone,
Since speaking to Ralf at RandomSource and realising there are no more PCBs available for the Haible Living Vocoder, I've taken it upon myself to redesign the Living Vocoder using Jurgen's original schematics.
So far, I have a filter channel PCB, using SMD components for the parts common across all the channels.
I also have the Slew/Freeze, Speech Input Amplifier, and Synthesis Compander PCBs laid out in Eagle. I'm working on the others too.
Since Jurgen always designed his circuits with the DIY community in mind, I'd like to offer my work to you all here, so we can collectively bring the Vocoder to life in a form that is slightly less daunting to build.
(The 20-channel filters will be easier to solder if half the components are already on the board in SMD).
If anyone's interested, I can upload my eagle layouts to a github page, so we can all double-check and debug, with a view to getting some PCBs manufactured and soldered.
What say you all?

BRILLIANT IDEA! |
|
|
This is a brilliant idea: I can't imagine why I'm the only person giving you kudos for it.
I already have two of the R*S re-run boards (that have been sitting unopened in the envelope Ralf sent for three years), otherwise I would enthusiastically jump in to help you in this project.
I might just do so anyway, if you're keen to share.
What I will say is that this thread:
https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/topic-155378-.htmlall&postdays=0&postorder=asc
very helpfully condenses the value replacements originally offered by user 'sound' at the thread here. (see jhulk post early on the second page of the thread)
In addition there's a post by "Techman" that includes helpful images of value replacements ( last post on Page 9 of that thread)
I know this post was a while back, but if you made any progress on it, I'd be very interested in hearing an update.
Again, brilliant idea and I wish you all the best with it. |

I honestly missed this, myself.
I'm guessing that the through-hole parts in the Filter board are the parts that need tuning per band?
Also, is everything wired, or do these boards attach to some kind of motherboard? |
