Made a couple of new modules for my Wren synth for making it easier to sync LFOs and delay lines, and to sync those to an incoming MIDI clock.

So I thought I'd try my hand at some old time sequencing. Recorded half an hour of that, fiddling a bit with the tempo at startup and at the end .. for the rest it is a self running patch, tempo controlled from a G2, where the sequencers modify themselves at times and where parts are faded in and out trough some 'not very synced' cross modulated multiphase LFOs .. to keep things moving a bit.

Looking at the recorded wave it may be a bit overcompressed, but on headphones it doesn't sound too bad.

I did a couple more 'what day is it today' patches and may record some and post here.

BTW, the 'what day is it today' idea came from here

Here is another one, a bit more mellow, inspired by http://electro-music.com/forum/post-419838.html

This also is a synced patch where I fiddled with the tempo a bit.

And yet another one .. this must have been a bad day :-)

Fiddling a bit with the amount of tempo modulation with the 'speeds' knob.

Oh, this one was set to 18.809 notes / octave.

It's Monday. These are interesting pieces... nice to listen to whilst writing code. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, one observation... your pieces tend to end rather abruptly. I'm off in some strange sound world and then

Thanks guys.

James .. I'll make one with an ending for you .. soon.

Problem with endings is that they have to be programmed .. or so I always tought .. which breaks the workflow of making the noodle .. but I realized I can just stop the MIDI clock now which will make an envelope (or more envelopes) to fade to zero slowly .. which can be used to wind things down .. as in making it slower .. softer .. less varied etc.

Anyways .. experimenting with that now .. but got distracted a bit with trying out VCV Rack and getting used to Reaper (for which I decided to buy a licence yestrday).

And also .. motorcycles should be forbidden during a pandemic .. this was the second time tonight my head hit the ceiling Shocked

Didn't realize it was going to be that soon Shocked but here it is - with an ending and a start.

For the start all sequencers are cleared and will build themselves up over time as volume & tempo increase, for the ending the sequencers keep evolving but otherwise it is the reverse process.

Het is zondag. And I realized that I had listened to this last piece the other day but only replied in my head, not actually typing it. So...

Wow! Endings are possible! Nice.

And .. another one .. played from a keyboard this time assisted by some patch magix .. in the first three minutes you can hear some fake field recordings made by Rob (robsol here on the forum) .. they happened to be streamed on his port while I was going to record a bit, and it sounded nice enough to steal it, thanks Rob Rolling Eyes

I had been experimenting a bit with midi clock reception for Wren .. also a bug in the midi multi note input module was brought to my attention .. actually there were several bugs in a couple of modules Shocked

Sooo made a test patch for it and hooked up a G2 for the clock and an NM Classic for a midi keyboard .. then played with that for a couple of hours.

Attached is part of that .. Wren does the sequency arp stuff and the slow notes - it is in "fake 3 voice mode", a G2 does some crackly stuff .. the NM Classic is used for the keyboard only, a 2nd G2 was involved for midi routing only (as my midi thru unit refused to make a reliable signal for the RME .. which was used as the midi input for Wren ...).

And now I'm dizzy and am going to play a regular noodle here Wink

I think this is my favourite one. It has a kind of vintage sound. And it even has an ending Smile.

Heh, yeah it had an ending, and it was an ending :-)

Thanks for listening James.

I'm into making dust now for a bit.

Were's listening to 05-16-02, and 05-17-11 today, this evening; we are listening the artistic timing and the time fluxutations, and also, unique synthesizer sounds, such as the 05 17 11 song
