Hi all..

I have been playing around breadboarding Rene Schmitz 4069 VCO (I already have one built, love it, nice simple little VCO), then my plan was to mess around with it and alter bits and learn how and why it works.

after a little bit of messing, I have got rid of the pulse and made 2 saws which I had hoped to be able to detune and mix together to make a nice beefy sound, but nope it's not happening, it doesn't seem to matter what resistors I change the 4069 seems to lock the oscillators together.

I also wondered if it was something to do with my simple passive mixer on the outputs and tried putting some diodes in there to stop the signals going back into the output.. nope

Before I drive myself mad trying lots of stuff is this possible with one chip or will it always sync ??

if it's not doable I will get rid of the 2nd saw and then I have 3 spare schmidt triggers.. anything interesting I can do with them???

cheers...

ps.. I know I've not got temp co in there or 1v/oct or even a CV in just yet.. I will add this in though if I make something intersting. just didn't see the point whilst messing Wink

hi crazeydazey
what I would try is drive each oscillator with his own current sucking transistor
iow add a third transistor "q3"with base to base of q1, both emitters at ground and each collector to one different of the saw cores. The way you had it both cores get reset by whatever diode switches, you´re diode mixing the pulses...
