Field Recording based Music Subject description: New music built from found sound on Bandcamp |
 |
|
Hello
I'm new to the forum, so I hope this is appropriate...
I recently released some music on Bandcamp called Field Recordings.
The tracks are Creative Commons licensed, and free to download.
It's based on captured sound (or field recordings) set to some music.
The interesting things (IMHO) tho are:
Locus Sonus - a sound map from around the world. I've used that for two tracks: Chittaranjan using a source based in Kolkata, India, and Chichibu from a source in Japan.
I've also found myself simply listening to streams from this map throughout the day (without the inconvenience of someone playing music over them- ha!). I think it's a wonderful thing!
The other tracks are recorded locally near where I live if you want to google them!
From a production point of view, I work on Linux and I've played with ramped tempo changes in Ardour on Crag Well and Chichibu - a first for me, and good fun. Midi programming worked great, and it was interesting to try to play along to record some live audio and midi as well.
Also had my first outing using Virtual Playing Orchestra with a template for Ardour, for Beckfoot Bridge which is a pretty amazing thing all-round.
NB I use Ardour 6, and this github issue helped me.
Anyway, I hope some people enjoy them. I'd love to get any constructive feedback that people can spare.
Credits, and software used and so on are listed on the Bandcamp pages. The tracks are Creative Commons licensed, and free to download, etc.
Thanks. |

Hey this is cool! Nice cinematic soundscapes. The wind (I think?) in the beginning of the Chichibu track combined with your arrangement is lovely.
As I've switched to Linux recently I appreciate all the credits/references too. |

Second Field Recording Musical releaase Subject description: Another album of captured sound based recordings |
 |
|
Just to let you know I've released another set of tracks - music created around captured sounds again. This time the found sounds are a little more industrial.
Available on Bandcamp:
https://theargentgrub.bandcamp.com/album/field-recordings-volume-two
If anyone on this forum wants a free download, just message me.
Lo-fi video to accompany one of the tracks: Ardrossan
Immersive musical soundscapes from the captured sound of motorways, generators, household appliances, and more.
Raw field recordings are matched to musical ideas and crafted into tracks that make these otherwise industrial noises listenable. At the same time, the recordings need room to breathe and to be heard, to work with the music, to neither dominate it or to be lost behind it.
For best results, find a quiet place. Stop. Listen.
Download includes a sleeve notes booklet (PDF).
Thanks for listening - all feedback appreciated. _________________ Making music as the The Argent Grub |
