Today is Les's birthday. I went to his Facebook page to wish him a happy birthday, and I noticed a post on his wall from someone named Penny Hall. I think that is the name of his sister that used to help him out (he mentioned her often in the chatroom). The post was just "RIP Les Hall".

I contacted her on Facebook to confirm if it was true, but it seems like Les might have passed away.

We were used to him disappearing online for a while, and then showing up again one day. I am afraid that he might not be coming back this time.

Les (aka Inventor), was very open about his mental health struggles. However, I always found him to be kind, polite, and happy to share his knowledge with others online. He has some very creative projects here on these forums, like the BBD Karplus-Strong module, and lots of eChucK stuff.

I will post a reply if I hear back from Penny.

RIP Les, you will be missed Sad

Bummer...

I have tried to contact Les several times for a long time; no response. I suspected this but, as they say, hope springs eternal. I knew his physical health wasn't good. Les was a huge part of this community. He was very smart and an original thinker. He had what I would consider a difficult life, but he was very open and very supportive of everybody. He has been missed and will continue to be so.

Life is short. Try to not get too stressed and enjoy it as much as possible. If we do that we will honor his memory.

I just saw this post about Les. Updates appreciated.

I built his BBD as a module on my synthesizer and Les designed an expo converter to allow 1v/8ve operation. That was very kind of him.

Thank you Les Hall / Inventor. R.I.P.

I still check this forum regularly, but I came here today to look up some background info on one of Les' circuits, and saw this post.

Les was one of those people who made the internet great. He was generous and had some really interesting ideas.

I had asked him for advice on how to combine two of his circuits, but instead of giving me the answer, he encouraged me to read the datasheets and figure it out. Which I did, and was better for it.

James.

His sister has not responded to my message on Facebook. It's probably in her message request section, and most people don't even know that exists.
