I hate late night tv ads, and the cheesy salesman they have. I saw one for "ColdHeat(tm)", a soldering iron that's battery powered and they had grandmothers repairing glasses, mothers saying they don't know how they ever lived without it. Hilarious. Only $19.95!

Then, I came across the product in Costco. And at $12, I picked one up. I actually was looking for a portable soldering gun, since I get together here in Denver once a week for a DIY electro night. But, I'm here to tell you, IT WORKS!

It's not the best iron, but it will do (very well) standard .1" spaced pins (most electronics in DIP packages) and I've even done a few surface mount components (1206 and 804 sized caps/resistors). So, if you're looking for something similar for your Do It Yourself kit, I recommend this wonderful beast.

Very cool. Wink

I have seen these advertised. I figured it was a rip off. Good to hear they are for real!

Thanks for this post. Very Happy
