Hi Everyone,

I am pulling my hair out here and maybe someone that uses cubase can stop me going totally bald.

When cubase sends bank change messages to my G2 it totally ignores them and always uses bank 1.

Can anyone help me to get the thing to understand it has more than 1 bank.

Any help would be really really aprecieted.

Cheers

Andy

i dont know the G2 very well yet, but have you tried the other way round? change banks from within the G2 and record it in Cubase. then see what Cubase has recorded and use that to change banks in the G2.
i hope it works. still, i don't think changing banks or programs within a song has had a lot of priority when Clavia designed their synths.
and really, most sounds are nice enough to at least last a song!

Hi BobTheDog,

I use Cubase SX 3.0 with the G2 and it works fine (with the exeption that in some circumstance ma G2 freeze), I've loaded the Nordmodular Patchname script in Cubase. Cause its an older version and due the flexibel structure of the G2 the patchnames are not matching, but you can edit them. If you like, I can send you the script, but you can find it also on one of the older SX CDs.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Have you upgraded to 3.1? I'm beginning to wonder if it is a 3.1 problem.

I'll have a look on the Cd's for the file.

Cheers

Hi Sinswolf,

The only scripts I can find are for the old nord modular (versions 2.0 and 3.0) and the nord lead!

Are you useing one of these?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Bob,

I think I use the old Modular Patchnamescript
Try it and let me know if it works.

Hi,

Thats very kind of you.

I have been struggling trying to load in a .txt script file for the pathnames.

How did you generate the xml file?

Cheers

Hi again,

Still didn't have much luck with your script changeing banks properly!

I have written a program that creates a patch script for cubase that works will all banks and patches.

At the moment it just displays patch names as 1-1 for bank 1 patch 1, 2-23 for bank 2 patch 23 etc.

I am going to modify this program to also read .pchList files that have been uploaded from the G2 to put the correct patchnames in. Then I am going to try modify it to allow variation selection as well, but I dont know if cubase scripts allow this. The new XML device format does but I do not understand how to create this!

When I have finished this program I will upload it here, It will be for pc's not for macs. I could include the source code as well for someone to port to a mac.

I have included a zip file with the patch script in. Unzip the .txt file into:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase SX 3\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive

Replace USERNAME with your username, you may need to create this directory.

Now you should be able to install the device in the cubase MIDI device manager.

Cheers

Andy
