hello!!!

I study sound engineering and I am making a project on analog synthesis, but it has been very difficult gather information, up to now I have been able to get things about synthesis types but it is a small theoretical part.
if somebody possesses some type of information on the topic i would be very grateful that you contacted me.

thank you for the help

Are you talking about "synthesis" as in the use of synthesizers, in general, to make sound? Or are you talking abouts specific types of synthesis such as:

- subtractive synthesis (removing harmonics from harmonically rich sound)
- additive synthesis (building up harmonics from harmonically simple sounds)
- frequency modulation synthesis (creating harmonics through the modulation of pitch)
- granular/wavelet synthesis (putting together lots of short bits of sound to create more complex sounds)

and there are many others...

Feel free to ask specific questions, because somebody here will likely know an answer or be able to point you to some good reading. Also, welcome to electro-music.com Very Happy

I think the book "The Computer Music Journal" by Curtis Roads will help. I own it and LOVE it! A Great read and it covers a multitude of synthesis types without the mathematical rigor!

Curtis Roads has done some very interesting work with "Granular Synthesis". His "Point Line Cloud" CD/DVD set is a great example of his work.

Another book I personally own is "Microsound". I use it in my research of granular synthesis.

Also, the MAX/MSP forum on electro-music looks like a cool place to hang out if you study or enjoy sound design.

Hope this helps ...
