My trusted Boss PSA 240 (UK) power adaptor has unfortunately got to9 a stage of it's life where it needs some surgery (the cable is busted). But the unit seems like it is sealed.

I don't really want to buy a cheap third party replacement to power my 30 year old SH101, and the original Boss ones seem to be as rare as rocking horse sh*t.

I wonder if anyone else here has opened one to replace the cable?

I've opened one up before.
With a hacksaw! Laughing

It's the only way, as they are melted together. Can be done though, and they can be cable tied back together too, as long as you don't accidently cut anything but the case.
Keep in mind though that there is nothing mystical in there. It's just a regulated power supply. You can use any regulated power supply of the same voltage, and at least the same current rating. AND,........ make sure it's negative tip. (most these days can be set up either way)
I'm pretty sure Boss made all their stuff negative tip just to force people to buy their PSUs, (at 4 times the price of any other suitable PSU)
Back then, a regulated PSU with negative tip was a hard thing to find.
Not now.
