Variation Export/Import |
 |
|
I really would like to see this happen. You often go back to a performance another day, overide the variations...create some superior new ones...and destroy some good older ones ...
In ideal you could export a variation and import it in another patch.
I dont know if the patchstructure of the G2 allows that, but in ideal the import of an parameter set would look for matching module types and names and just replaces the values on matching modules.
This way you could transfer some basic parameters even betweeen patches that are work in progress.
You also could transfer settings of specific modules between patches that have total different structures just by changing some names and erasing unwanted modules on the export patch.

What you described above looks a lot like what the paste params feature does, could you highlight the diferences ?

Paste Params works only on selections, which regrettably means that one can only paste params for the voice area or the fx area but not both at the same time. So, not fit to copy a whole variation, and it doesn't copy the patch settings either.

| This variation export/import thing - don't you get that when you save and load a patch? If you want more than 8 variations, why not just save the patch multiple times with different names? |

Basicaly the paste parameter function is doing the job...maybe not as comfortable as an dedicated export/import but the function is there..
I wished i would have realized it earlier...would have saved some time.
<i think ive overseen it because i do all editmenu functions with keys and probably never gave the menue a closer look...to much new modules to explore first
A plain patch safe dont allows to mix variations... i safe all the time variations of a patch ending in a situation with 6 patches that all have a good variation 1 and crap on the other positions...
with the paste parameter function its possible to combine these 6 patches to one...Just a bit work involved.. But aslong its possible at all i am fine...
As a comfort function my initial wish is maybe still usefull...just not urgent at all... |
