how can get my sheet music onto a Digital Display for Piano

hi - im a casual piano player who is trying to go 'high tech' with my piano playing. eventually I would like to play around with Midi and musicXML format (maybe scanning in music Into the mxml format so I can hear how a piece is supposed to sound while Im leaning it?)

but for starters I wanted to start scanning my sheet music in .pdf files. is that a good way to archive my collection and make it portable?

I was going to put a flat 24" monitor on my piano and I was hoping there is some free app or low cost way to just display two pages at a time and maybe advance the pages somehow while I play. any suggestions?
