hi all,

this showed up on the windcontroller list, and i thought it would be of interest here. zoltan (the author of the post) is one of the 2 main designers (i think) of the ewi 4000 (current akai wind controller/windsynth).
------------------------------

One hint for DIY wind controller builders:

Freescale Semiconductors has a wide range of pressure sensors. There
are several that have an integrated signal conditioning circuit in
them, i.e., they output a voltage between 0..5 V. E.g., the
MPXV4006G could be good for our purpose:

code=MPXV4006&nodeId=01126990368716

They are not very cheap (about 20 USD), but you can order a couple
of free samples on the Freescale website for experimenting.

Another interesting IC is the MC34940, which is an electric field
sensor. It can be used for touch control or proximity sensing (a'la
Theremin):

code=MC34940&nodeId=0112698268

Best regards,
Zoltan.

thanks for the tip - i ordered few samples. it's good to have some sensors near, some day they might come handy.
