As far as I know, the idea is still alive, but Clavia stated that there is no release date planned. This means it is could still take a lot of time before we will get it, but personally I still have faith this will not turn into v4.0 revisited Very Happy

Sure an update would be nice but it is a fantastic synth either way.

(Clavia, please disregard the above statement, we still want an update, thanks, crawl, grovel, kiss shoes, etc, etc...)

They have 2 new products now to take care of... Before the Organ and the Wave dont hit the shops and have a refined os we cant expect that they have the time to do an update.
But... there is hope that they will have a look into it than...
At least i ve this hope..
The G2 is nice as it is... but with an update it could be even more fun...
There are some boundarys that are hard to overpatch..and some usage modules could increase the fun on stage a lot..

This 303 control thing i posted in the buildingblocks really worked out very well for me on stage for example... basically a module where 8 knobs and buttons can be assigned independendly to funktions...
But it is expensiv to patch such a thing wright now...
Would be probably easy to code...

A more difficult problem..
knob exclusion from variation changes at least for the global page...

This kind of usage updates dont help engine users but would allow to get the max out of the G2´s unique control surface...

maybe we can do a wishlist at one point? Its not that clavia is following wishes one to one..They do their own design... But it seems that they can become inspired when they see a point or bigger demand...

At least we have seen this in the midi modules of the G2 and the realisation of an OS x editor...

3phase,

I agree totally about doing an OS wish list. it should be done in the form of a survey for all users (maybe a bulk mail out to each g2 electro-music account) ... where you can rate and vote on the features you would most like to see ..

Then we can do a comprehensive top 10 (or more) list ...

And yes, variation exclusion should be in there for soo many reasons ...

Dreaming about new features is always fun, but I'd already be happy if they got rid of the bugs!

I must be certifiable, and tim must be psychic.

Last night I had a dream sleeping about the a new G2 OS, it was only a dream ; so please do not read into this to mean anything like a hint of any kind or otherwise.

Here is what I remember about the dream sleeping
1. I got a demo of the new stuff from Clavia guys in Sweden
2. Modules in the dream that I recall

sequencer group
- mm or ee sequencer ??
- record-able sequencer A
- record-able sequencer B
- p sequencer ??? - maybe a pattern or poly sequencer

There were others in the dream sleeping , but at this point in the day, I cannot recall them ...

The worst part about the dream sleeping, is that all I saw were the module names in the tabs, but I do not the actual modules ... sigh ... that's always the catch ...

the sequencer column really needs more entrys.. i really enjoy to be able to do live sequencing on stage..means write sequences with the keyboard and tweak them afterwards.. that could be a pretty unique domain for the G2 if this wouldnt cost so many slots..the experiments i ve done was very promising and useful on stage... fixed sequencers are not really a point in a time where a portable playstation can do that job...
interactivity...

there is quite something possible with the g2 in its current state..but there are bugs in the delay lines.. and i anyway would prefer to do that with sequencer modules that can be stored in the patch and have more economic knob assigns..
something that cycles the sequence only over 4 knobs..with a fifth and sixth knob to navigate and hold the display so that its possible to do edits by scrolling a 4 step window thru a sequence that maybe has 32 or more steps and multiple voices...
if the navigation knobs get mod inputs such a module could act as simple ram table aswell...

Such a really fat polyphonic edit and recordable sequencer module for note values and a additional quantized gate time sequencer module...

this together with some other knob related improvements and master midi modules would bring the G2 to a totally different level regarding a electronic live performance.. an interactive sequencer keyboard that comfortably controls other gear...

So far the g2 can do such things but its patching on the bleeding edge..
Too uncomfortable to be promoted as a real feature

yeah, it was a bizzare but pleasant dream, & I always remember my dreams ... not my 1st g2 dream either ... actually sometimes I get patch ideas in my dreams and I write them down on paper once I wake up ...

I totally agree with 3phase ... sequencing is all about control and changes and non linear tweaking ... I do hope the g2 will make this happen one day ...

There might even be an OS update one day, I'm an optimist, without any reason. Guess it's a spring thing.

Code:
Come on dasz give us an update!

Last night I dreaming I was followed and chased by crowds of people asking me to give them the word ... so I started running, in my kangoo jumps shoes ... once I got far enough in front, I hid behind a tree, and changed into ragged clothes put on a fake beard, waited until the crowd passed me by. then I joined the crowed (from the back) ... Wink

If you want me to do a patch on your g2 engine, I shall do so. I don't guarantee miracles tho... but they do happen occasionally, if you believe ... Wink

I think having a vote is an excellent idea... because there are as many ideas for improvements as their are owners with a modular product Smile

And then at least we will have definitive proof of whether Clavia take a blind bit of notice of us or not Wink

yes even with my limited patching knowledge I too have a few requests as well for things to be in a new OS update, however, I dont want to just start listing ideas until we are organised to do so if that makes sense?
