Woodstockhausen 2003 - Call for Works |
|
|
In what is by now becoming a late summer fixation, reclusive composers of that strange, ill-defined, and sometimes persecuted genre "experimental music" creep forth from winter dwellings and peal forth gordian bleats. Along with Monarch butterflies, mushroom hunters, sea lions, and surfers, they feel themselves inexorably drawn to the seaside town of Santa Cruz...
Audionauts,
I am happy to announce that Woodstockhausen will happen once again! Also known as the "tiny festival of esoteric music", Woodstockhausen is a small festival (or a long concert, depending on how you look at it) featuring works of music and video art which fall well outside the mainstream. We welcome the weird, the difficult, the sublime, and the just plain silly!
Submission categories include:
--Live music works (with video, dance, etc.)
--Recorded music
--Stand-alone sound art installations
--Special submissions which somehow fall outside known boundaries
The concert date is set for September 27, and submitted works will be accepted for judging until August 10. This year the judging will be done by a panel of past participants (who are not participating this year) who will base their evaluations entirely on your MP3 recorded samples without knowing your identity, so please make sure to give us recordings which best represent your work. Artists will be notified of their participation
status by August 20.
To submit your own work, visit the WSH2003 submissions web site at
http://www.woodstockhausen.org/WSH2003/submissions/
Please contact info@woodstockhausen.org if you have any questions or need clarifications regarding this event.
Good luck, and keep bleating! |
