After several hours of tinkering with an old Casio PT-12, and 6 separate connections which yielded satisfying sounds, I realized that I could not reassemble the keyboard in its current state. Thus, I cut and extended each wire, one at a time, then fed the wires through holes in the circuit board so as to run the wires out the side of the casing. However, when I finished the arduous task, to my intense dismay, the toy would no longer turn on. However, sometimes it will turn on, but not off (without removal of batteries, that is). I doubt this has anything to do with it, but the speaker wires came disconnected as well. When the power manages to go on, I have tested each key with speaker wires held to their connection puts, without any success. What can I do to fix this keyboard? All connections worked prior to extending the wires; only afterward did they stop working. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks!

Double check all your connections. Look for cold or sloppy solder joints. Make sure that no solder bridged or ran over to where it didn't belong. Reflow the solder on any questionable spots. If you need to remove all your added solder and redo the connection.

Hmm... I just rechecked some of my solder joints, and resoldered a joint. I retested it, and it made some loud screeching noises. I turned some of my switches on and off, and the effects still worked. Curious.

After testing it, it will somewhat work when i put my finger on a certain component, but it doesnt sound like it originally did; its distorted. however, the tone controls still work. the On switch does nothing. It seems like i have to let it sit overnight for it to work how i just described. Any suggestions?
