As a result of a thread on the newscores.com SC forum, I prototyped a step sequencer. The GUI isn't terribly refined but that wasn't the point... I was trying to:

- illustrate how to use patterns with a GUI to control synth parameters;
- show how to use arrays and dictionaries to describe objects that will be created en masse later (instead of the alternative of using lots of independent variables and cut-and-paste style programming, which one SC list member called a "carpal-tunnel based" programming approach).

To get proper rests into the patterns required some rather involved tap dancing - so that was another point, to show some advanced pattern manipulation tricks that I've picked up with a LOT of experimentation over the years - very useful tricks and not too crazy once they're explained, but not at all obvious.
