Well, a laser guided flame thrower then ....

Oh Scott, I just got finished kitting parts for the Appendage production build this morning and I have 95% of the parts. I am ordering odds and ends today from Digikey. I am going through the build documentation and starting the board stuffing. I will report any issues on private mail as we have been.

Sorry I've been trying to wade through the posts but all I really want to know is when the kits are done will they be offered via the EM store or will I need to get on a list or something before hand?

Actually, they will be sold through me, sMs Audio Electronics

The first batch of PC boards & parts kits will be on a pre-order, pre-pay, basis for about a month. Then they will ship to customers. I have done this several times with other products on the forum and can assure you my reputation is good. I have not had a single single complaint and have dealt with 100's of folks Wink

Thanks
Bill

Thanks Bill. I think I bought some Klee parts from you a while back. Do you know (roughly) when pre-orders will start?

Here's Issue 1 of the build document, and I just finished it today. That's been the big hold-up; Bill's had the PCB in the can for ages. I've been working on this thing for around six months or so. If I didn't have a day job, I could have finished it in five and a half. Very Happy

Alas, no flame-thrower - the DHS turned our application for the permit. So, you'll have to resort to a Zippo or a pack of matches for the pyrotechnics.

Cape not included.

Edit: <oops>

Laughing Now you see why it took six months. It had a grammatical error I kept meaning to fix and....didn't. I'm sure there are more, but, if I'm unaware of them, it doesn't bother me so much. The technical portion has been tested by Bill on a second build, so I'm not worried by that.

Hang on, I'm converting it to PDF........

Ah, there it is.

I've just skimmed through the parts of this. It looks very comprehensive. I can't wait to get my hands on some boards...

Yes - though it's not even in the same ballpark as the Klee as far as wiring it up, it's still a larger document. A good deal is dedicated to illustrations and procedure for actually putting the parts on the PCB. I found that even having the parts location silk screen layout, it was still a task to go and find where R42 actually went, for example. The illustrations zero in on where on the board a particular part goes.

The calibration was the most difficult thing to put down coherently. Bill's run-through was successful. The proto-team also used the illustrations for wiring up the panels, so that all checks out.

The PCB schematics, panel schematics and integrated schematics added a good deal to the size as well (those were separate documents with the Klee).

I was torn between "lots of stuff" and "a bunch of stuff". Laughing

I found a few more fiddly spelling/grammatical things with the first section, which was written several months ago. One mistake other than grammatical was on page 10 where the it says the TFS Mix mixes in Bend (even though every other place it was correct - it does mix in TFS). I fixed that, too, but if you've already downloaded issue 1, this issue 1.1 won't be much different.

Cheerios,
Scott

Wonderful, many thanks for all the team's hard work. I'm pleased to know that construction is no more unpleasant than a prostate examination or a root canal Laughing - but perhaps not as unpleasant as waiting for the result of a Troponin Test - 3 hours in my case two weeks ago, which thankfully was negative. A copy of the document will go in my hospital "not getting bored" bag!
