Wave editors for OSX

What wave editor / simple recording software do you use to work with simple sound files? Free or commercial software are viable options for me. I've tried Audacity and Peak Pro on OSX but they just don't feel quite right (or even tend to crash). Somehow, I feel I had a better and more productive time with Wavelab on a PC in the year 2000...this isn't right. Also, Has anyone tried an app called "Wave Editor" for OSX?

I would be interested in this also. Audacity doesn't feel very reliable on OSX.

Wave Editor is great IMO: Useful, nice interface, and really easy to use.

wavelab will be available for osx end of the year.
until then i think peak is still the best app for editing.
yes it crashes here and there....

I use and swear by Amadeus Pro. It's a relatively unknown Mac OSX-only (written in Cocoa, not some shit from Windose port) wave editor. I used to use TC Spark, until TC dropped support for Spark (RIP Crying or Very sad

), and I just could not get on with Peak one little bit Evil or Very Mad

Same here, I use Spark XL (dead) and Amadeus. They are both great with their various strengths. Too bad Spark was dropped but I will always keep a system to run it on, the workflow was the best and the plugins terrific. Big up to the TC developers who have kept making service patches through the years after official support was gone!

Amadeus is brilliant. It has been around forever, works great, and it hardly costs anything. Excellent support also. It's a far better deal than most audio editors which cost many times more. Alright, I sound like an advert, but I really do recommend it.

Unfortunately though, I can't use Spark no longer for processing as it doesn't work in Rosetta very well Crying or Very sad

But operation of Amadeus Pro is very similar to Spark- especially if used in conjunction with Audio Hijack Pro (the fx matrix). And of course it is so cheap (compared to Spark) Very Happy

Hmm. Nobody else mentioned Sound Studio. I've been using that for yonks. It wasn't free but it also wasn't very expensive ($30 USD or so) and it gives me 2 channel recording, a fairly robust editing environment and writes out AIFF and WAV so it works well with DP6. For some of the more humongous files I've been editing recently (>600mb), it doesn't crash, unlike Audacity, and it doesn't decompose the file into a "Project" so it stays in its native format. Also seems totally compliant with CoreAudio.

Anyway, that's what I use.

Sorry to revive an old thread but as it showed up under a Google search, I thought I might add my 0.02c of ignorance to the thread...

I'd like to add that, IMO, Audacity has been vastly improved but also of worthy mention are Traverso and Ardour.
