Are there Lunetta requirements to follow? |

I'm very curious as to this with my own building of what I feel qualifies as a Lunetta machine - because of what I'm including in my build.
See - through all that I've read so far, I've been under the impression - 'politically / "legally" ' to qualify) - that a Lunetta machine should be as free from complexities as possible. I.E.:
- nothing outside of the CMOS world included
- no protection (resistors to Ground or Positive, or diodes)
- basically: pin to jack
- recording of it's output to be unaltered by Effects units / etc.
in order for the machine to qualify as a Lunetta machine.
I came to this question a few minutes ago this morning as I remembered the origin / conception of my current modular synth that I'm still building - D.A.M.I.A.N.
Remembering what his name stands for, brought back the full meaning of my original intent, in starting building again in July 2005:
D.A.M.I.A.N. = Deathlehem Anarchy Machine Intonating Antagonizing Noise
My original intent WERE (as I'd forgotten over the last while) TO make a noise producing machine!
Finally - seeing all of that, in the near future where I'll be adding more 'normal' modules to my Lunetta machine - could it still morally be considered, a Lunetta machine?
I myself feel so, as my original intent FOR my new Deathlehem Machine, IS to use it for creating beautiful harshness in noise, as simply as possible.
And my original modular in the near future may also finally, be being used within it's, original intent: to produce beautiful noise movements of audio, along with it's 'son' or 'little brother'.
Curious as to anyone else's thoughts on this - or, whether it matters at all, or not. |

I believe the only guidelines you have to follow are using all CMOS chips. You can use resistors, caps, diodes, and the like however you want.
I cheat and use a minimal amount of transistors though. Ya just can't get a good frequency sweep on a VCO without them! Still trying to figure out how to use 4007's as expo controllers. |

Actually, I just figured out how to make a lunetta VCO following the cmos guidelines. I replaced the transistors in my design with the 4007's and it works pretty dang well, infact even a bit better.
Time to start a new topic...;d |

I haven't started my Lunetta yet, but when I do, it will follow the same rules as just about everything else I do.
Rule No.1 - No Rules
Rule No.2 - When feeling creatively oppressed, refer to Rule No.1

Well then, Uncle Krunkus - IN that spirit, here's another module idea that you may like, as I feel it's related to what you said as well:
For my Lunetta machine, a variation on my Liquid HiHat:
From it, I will take direct outputs from both of the CD4046's, to use as square wave VCOs. (Direct through their own 1k resistors).
As well, I'll bring the inputs to some of the XORs out to the panel, with diode protection and 100k's to Ground.
At the same time as giving my Lunetta machine, a Liquid HiHat palette of sounds, it'll also give it 2 x VCOs and a bunch of XOR inputs for further sound and logic functions.
That will be one of my next modules. Before it though, I want to get something set up for sequence playing around shift registers and multiplexers. (I'll have my dual 4015 finished today, for sure). |
