heya!
I was turned onto this forum from the Nord Modular G2 yahoo list, and just took delivery on my G2 yesterday it's going to be a long few months of playing
I've been writing for a while, at last count actively about 5 years, played piano/violin/etc for a while growing up, and dj'ed for several years before I started producing.
My site is - http://www.endmusik.com - there you can find links to all of my active projects, and where applicable links to the label site for album releases etc - I'm signed to Magnatune.com for three projects and I'm in the process of looking for other labels to do other releases on
I look forward to meeting you all, and welcome any and all feedback on my material!

Michael, glad to have you here.
Congrats on your new G2 synthesizer. Electro-music.com is not dedicated to the Nord Modulars, but there is a lot of action here for those machines. We hope to start up user forums for other instruments to widen our base of members.
Your web site looks very good. You have acomplished quite a lot. I'm impressed. I like you paintings. We have several visual artists who are members here. In fact, Rob Hordijk, the guru Nord Modular patcher, was originally a sculptor.
I listened to a few tracks on your site. Very nice stuff...
Please post notices of any concerts you my participate in on the forum. I live pretty cloce to NYC and might make it in. _________________ --Howard

Consider the G2 my "gateway drug" into the potentially highly addictive electro-music.com world
Thanks much for the welcome -I will do my best to spread out around the forums and check out the sites! I'm fascinated with electronic music, have been since my dad played Tangerine dream and Tomita albums while I was growing up - and so I spend all my time now programming and writing.
Also - just a question based on you're studio thread in you're forum - how do you like the Mackie 1642? I'm in the market for a versatile line mixer, and I've been eyeing that.
I'll be sure to post about any concerts - that's half of why I picked up the G2, I want to build some performances that I can use in an improvisational live noise/ambient set, I think the G2 can handle 2/3'rds of sound generation for me

I'm sorta halfway satisfied with my Mackie mixer. Sometimes it acts flakey. Inputs konk out and you have to pull and reinsert plugs, or drive very strong signals through the channel to get them to reconnect. There is some leakage of signals from one strip to another in certain circumstances. Most of the time everything works very well. I never turn it off because when I do I can expect these problems to show up again.
That said, It's clean and quite.
Still, I don't have a warm feeling for Mackie products. I would buy other Mackie products if there was nothing competitive from someone else, but I'd avoid them if I could go with another manufacturer. Actually, I've had better luck with Behringer.
I never liked TD or Tomita, but I know some really enthusiastic fans. _________________ --Howard

in my opinion mackie outperforms behringer..
behringer looks cooler tho..but more noisy mic inputs and seems less headroom
i have both a behringereuromixer thingie and a mackie 1202VLZ
mackie is cleaner but slightly 'cold' but overall more technically sound
but i will agree that mackie has some channel leakage issues
the behringer's EQ'S are awful
btw..i love tomita hehehe _________________ Spiral Recordings |

Any "owner" evaluation is based on a sample set of 1, so all this should be taken with a grain of salt. I bought a Mackie because it had a better reputation than Behringer. Well, owner testimonials and reputations may or may not be accurate.
I never use the EQ in my mixer. I wish it had a bypass mode. _________________ --Howard

| I have a bigger Mackie and I've had some channel bleed, but overall quieter and more solidly built than the Behringers. The smaller Behringers are inexpensive and extremely useful to have around for situations that may come up, especially in live use. At Different Skies 2004, almost everyone playing there (16 musicians) had a small Behringer on stage. One of them broke when the power cord was tripped over. When our expected PA system didn't arrive, we purchased a 24 channel Behringer and had no problems with it. |
