Monle and FiRe Subject description: Recorder apps |
|
|
I got fed up with the inbuilt Voice Memos app and have been looking for a replacement.
Monle is not free but much more than just a recorder. It features a four-track non-linear editor with mixdown and proper monitoring of the input signal. It is compatible with the Blue Mikey - in other words, you can record stereo if you have the ability. It is also compatible with the Intua pasteboard and Audio Copy, which means Jasuto Pro and BeatMaker for example.
Blue FiRe is free and directly compatible with the Blue Mikey (by this time you can probably tell that I'm considering the upcoming Mikey...). It's a very capable app, I suggest you check it out for yourself!
You can, of course, use the inbuilt mic on the iphone or headphone mic on the ipod on these apps. You can aslo record in mono.
Best of all, both of these support getting your recordings onto a computer without it being stuck in iToons! Seriously, I have tried to work out how to get recordings transferred from Voice Memos without any hassle, and I have not found a way!
Too late now anyway. These are great apps! _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Just an other note about Monle: It can paste audio from Jasuto Pro, NLog Synth, BeatMaker and lots of others, making it a mixing and arrangement tool for doing everything "in the palm" if you feel up for it. You can move and fade in/out blocks of audio, trim them and adjust levels. You have four tracks available, stereo or mono. If you need more you can make mixdowns of a session.
It supports both Audio Copy/Paste and Intua Pasteboard.
I would not do this with big projects, or even small ones really, as Monle slows down when dealing with long files, but as a stunt or something to do in an airport while waiting, it's rather fun. Also, for creating layered samples from several different apps it is ideal.
My only wish for Monle (apart from optimising for long files) is to have proper transport control - at the moment you have to listen from the start every time you press play. Otherwise it is great! _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Monle is on offer today only - $4.99 -- normal price $9.99.
O and the transport issue was a user error, not a limitation of the app. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum
