I had to evacuate my home due to hurricane Laura. Hurricane force winds forecasted and tornado watch. I’m sheltering in Longview Texas.

Don’t know if my home will still be intact when I return. Electric power will probably out for several days.

I hope your house is okay! A lot of destruction there.

Thanks Airlock. There is tremendous damage, especially south of me all the way to the coast.

I got to check my home yesterday and it survived for the most part. There is some roof damage and rain water leaked through. Two large oak trees uprooted and fell in my front yard. Fortunately, they missed the house! It could have been a major disaster. One of the trees did strike the back corner of a detached carport where I normally park my truck. If I had not evacuated, the back of my truck would have been severely damaged. The trees crushed a chain-link fence separating the front and back yards.

There is massive and widespread damage to the power grid. My power utility will not give an estimate of repair, only that they are still evaluating the damage. No power, too hot and humid to stay at home (mid 90 degree temps today!), so I’m staying in a hotel some distance away for now.

I consider myself very lucky. I barely dodged having my home smashed! Way too many other people had much worse... Crying or Very sad

Here are some pics of the big trees down in my yard.

I think you need to buy a lottery ticket, with all that luck sloshing around.

Hope everyone in the path of it is okay!

Electric power has now been restored. I’m back at home again. It’s time for me to start cleaning up the mess. I guess the two big fallen oak trees will make lots of good firewood…

I’m so damn lucky, I dodged a bullet. Now I know EXACTLY what it feels like to be shot at and MISSED!

Still counting my lucky stars!

The electric power has been off at least four times since I got back home on Tuesday, thankfully for short periods…

Still recovering.

Internet service is very poor.

Here is another pic from my front porch of the two large oak trees uprooted in the front yard with my Ranger pickup to show some scale… If these two large trees had fallen on my house it would have been smashed into splinters… toothpicks… I’m so damned lucky.

My music studio could have been smashed to smithereens… including my G2’s and various other noise makers.

Still got some rain water damage though. Stereo sound equipment rack got wet and partially collapsed… I’m reluctant to power anything up until all has a chance dry out…

Electric power has been out at least six times... fluctuating wildly sometimes while back on.

Still recovering...

Still recovering.

So here comes Sally. This is insane - Louisiana getting hit a second time.

My mother and siblings live just east of Baton Rouge (Walker). Looks like they are going to get hit this time from Sally like I did from Laura.

Still recovering...

Fuck Hurricane Laura!

Fuck Hurricane Sally!

Fuck Hurricane Delta!

I finally got the downed large oaks removed from my front yard. I lost a cedar tree also during the removal, got knocked down, collateral damage. The downed oaks will at least provide some firewood.

Roof damage worse than first thought…

Still recovering…

Pic from my front porch after the two large oaks removed.

So lucky those didn't land on my house. I would be homeless now if they had...

Still recovering…
