Bank and patch select issues with Cubase |
 |
|
I'm having some problems getting Cubase SL to select the right patch/bank combination in a sequence.
At the moment, I use cc32 to select the bank and the "Prg:" selecter in inspecetor. This works fine until I want to change the bank again, and it won't let me.
Using the "Program change" thingy in the piano roll does nothing too, so I can't change patches during a sequence at all it seems.
Does anyone else use Cubase with their G2? |

HI,
have a look at http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-7883.html
Useing the script bank patchnames works fine in cubase.
The problem with cubase (and live 5) is that they send the bank msb and lsb in one order, the G2 expects them in another causeing problems. The script fixes this and also allows you to choose by patchname (if you have a pc and run the app following the instructions).
If you need any help just post again.
Cheers

Cubase SX 2 note showing G2 |
 |
|
Hi,
I'm using Cubase SX 2 and copied the patchtext to Cubase SX >> Scripts >> Inactive >> Clavia. However, the G2 still doesn't show up in Midi Device Manager. (I tried pasting text straight to Clavia folder and just to inactive folder and also 'other' folder -- not at the same time !!!-). I pasted text script for a Korg electribe this way and it worked fine. At present I can change patches and banks with Cubase preset script for NM. but obviously I'd prefer G2 factory patch names and to use patch script gen. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks, Tom |

Hi Tom,

Cheers Andy,
It'd be well appreciated if you could check the patch txt with SX 2. In the meantime I'll have a closer look at Cubase docs and compare NM and G2 patch texts. I'd of thought the MIDI patch / bank change commands would be the same for SX 2 and 3, then again I might be wrong. |

Hi Tom,
It works fine with SX 2. heres what I did.
Copy the "Nord G2 Patchnames.txt" file to the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase SX 2\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive
Replace USERNAME with your login name. The folder should already exist and contain aload of folders like "Access" and "Alesis" etc. It is important to make sure you are putting it in this folder, there is another folder under "Program Files" with the same name, putting the file here does not work, so make sure it is the one under "Documents and settings" that you use.
Load up SX2.
Start the "MIDI device manager" screen by clicking on the menu Devices->Midi Device Manager.
Now click the "Install Devices" button.
In the displayed list choose "Nord Modula G2 (CLAVIA)" and click the ok button.
Now in the bottom left of the "MIDI device manager" screen you should see the Patch Banks in a tree, expand some nodes and have a look, you should see the banks and patches.
Close the window.
Assign a midi tracks out to "Nord Modular G2", now you can select by patchname.
Hopefully this should work for you, otherwise just post back and we can sort it out.
Cheers

Managed to install it. First time around I couldn't find the path to Application Data in XP so I was trying to instal it through programs. (for some reason the path to Application Data is in 'start up' in my XP setup). Many thanks for the script, script gen and your help. This makes sequencing G2 with Cubase sooooo much more convenient. |
