I didn't write it for you.....it was a lullabye for my new baby soundlab!
And now, my submission for the prettiest, best looking, and most well designed Soundlab MiniSynth is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivmCXiQ_Q18
And am pretty proud of myself. Its been a long time since I built anything. The last thing was an FM radio transmitter......the FCC paid me a visit over THAT one. Seems they dont like pirate radio stations.
But I really want to thank everyone on these forums for being so patient and helpful and downright NICE! I really couldnt have built this without this forum and the help and resources here. Thanks.
Cheers

You hurt my Soundlabs feelings!
Theres a scene in Rocky Horror Picture Show, where Frankenfurter has just brought Rock to life. He asks Janet what she thinks, Janet says "I dont like a man with too many muscles".
And Frankenfurter snaps back "I didn't build him for YOU!!"
My 'song' "Getting to know you" was just a recording of me 'Getting to know' the Soundlabs controls and what they do and sound like.
Now it is time to start modding!
Ive got another soundlab PCB and am collecting the bits and peices I need to get it put together.
As far as the meter on the gieger counter box: Has anyone discovered the best value of resistor to use to keep from blowing the meter when I connect it to something so that it moves? (So I dont have to bother with experimenting with a pot to find out? Im lazy) I like the idea of hooking it up so it responds to the LFO. But I dont really want to build much extra circuitry for that.
And then.....what should I build next? The Wogglebug? The sequencer? The thingie so I can play guitar or other instruments I might invent through the soundlab?
Cheers

No, it doesnt......at least not until some of the developers here invent a USB-Midi-Analog interface over a distributed web service......so we can modulate each other's whacky-boxes on-line, in real time.
Until you guys figure out how to do THAT one.....I think I'll try building Ray's Keyboard to CV, Gate and Trigger.
And the Wogglebug, and finish my WSG, and maybe a dozen or so APC's.
And one thing I decided I need today, is a couple of small headphone amps, and simple "utility amps" that run on batteries. (So I dont have to assemble a whole PA system just to play with my Soundlab....make it a more portable "play anywhere" kind of thing)
Anyone know of a SIMPLE easy small amp I could build?
Cheers

Need some INPUT please? Subject description: Please think for me. |

OK, now that my soundlab is up and running.
How do I use it?
Whats sorts of things can, or should (or shouldnt) I plug into or out of the various jacks?
Ive been afraid to plug much of anything in to it until I know more about it.
See, what my problem REALLY is is that I dont know how to read. If I could read, I'd just look up the info myself and figure it out all by myself, DIY style with my own little brain.
I REALLY like the Soundlab just as it is: A groovy sound-maker, and I dig twiddling with it for hours and listening to its golden tones. But now I'd like to progress into controlling it and exploring its full potential.
Can anyone please help me?
I'm just a dumb Tuna, but I am trainable.
Cheers!

Cool! Thanks!
I think I'll try to build one of those in the next day or so.
I had one of Bruce Zinky's original "Cigarette Pack" amps. I was tour-managing a band 10 years ago, and he hooked us up with some of those. The ones he made for us had extra out-puts. You really COULD drive a 4X12 cab with one!
Im thinking about building an amp and speakers right in to the cab I am designing to put my second Soundlab into.
Cheers

Here's two I made this is the first one
and here is the second one.
two speakers and a speaker out jack.
I took it camping and hooked up two Kustom PA speakers to it and we jammed all night long.
it's a great little circuit the gain is pretty sweet. Sounds good and crunchy with a guitar. _________________ "your stripes are killer bro" |
