Hi folks,
today i've found an interensting paper about banded waveguide (i'm been searching info about tabla synthesis) and I've played around with this technique. This is my first result, a snare drum.

I would like to see improvements made by you all Smile

Luca

Sounds interesting, could you tell a bit more about the banded wave guide technique, or maybe point us to some web site ?

[
The funnny thing is that when I disabled the reverb the sound didn't resemble a snare anymore, and so I thought I could remove all the waveguide stuff and replace it with a noise osc, but that was too simple, bad idea :-)

in fact is the same thing i've noticed. Here are two interesting docs:

ftp://ftp.cs.princeton.edu/techreports/2002/659.pdf
http://www.cs.princeton.edu/sound/research/controllers/etabla/Petthesis.pdf

The frist schema i've found uses some delayed BPF and a feedback path. Another, instead, adds a reflection block and, after, another series of delayed BPF as a feedback path. I've used this one and results are interesting. More work is needed and I'm very lame on math Razz
