NordModular and the NordLead2 Some users have both synths, mostly a NordLead2 and a MicroModular. Because the Micro has only three Knobs and one Button, it seems a ood idea to use the Lead as a (somewhat expensive, but) Midi Controller. This works great for all the Lead Knobs. Just assign in the Micro Patch the right Midi CC and 25 parameters in the Micro can be controlled. However, if one wants to use the NordLead as well, changing its Knobs will change the Lead sound. This problem can be solved by using a Lead Slot only as a controller. As an example, Slot D is the control Patch, which means the (Amplifier)Gain is set to zero and isn't touched anymore! The other three Slots can be used to create sounds, however, changing an assigned Micro Parameter can't be used to control the Lead Patch anymore. In reality the most important Knobs on the Lead I leave unassigned, so the Lread sound can be changed. Lead Knob assignment The buttons are more troublesome. In the NordModular/MircoModular the switch value is less (off) or equals/more then 64 (on). In the NordLead this is 0 and 1. This means if a value is more as 64 in the Micro, the parameter can be changed to 'off' position and will never been reset to 'on'. But the Modular has those famous (infamous) Logic Modules. Using these all the Buttons of the Lead can be used as Switches, and in different combinations. A Button function like 'Distortion' (CC80) can be used as just an 'on/off' Switch. Multi value Buttons can be used in more ways. In certain combinations the will function as a 'Selector Switch' choosing from three to five options, or they can be patched as 'Add to Switches', meaning the choise made before will stay active until the '0' value is reached again. These Buttons can be used to switch on parts of the Micro Patch.
