The Physics patch use physical modeling to produce very expressive sound. I don't try to make copy of real instruments but make some new interesting sound "like" real instrument. So if you want a real flute sound don't look here (and buy a sampler ...)

But if your goal is to produce expressive sound with something like a real instrument, you can try these patches.

If you haven't pedal on your modular change the patch to assign a knob to the morph group !

Add reverb to the sound for a more real effect !

Wind, monophonic like "normal flute"
 

• RTphysic-flute.pch : velocity and mod-wheel sensitive sound
• RTphysic-flute-b.pch : velocity and mod-wheel sensitive sound - like flute different attack
• RTphysic-flute0.pch : pedal sensitive - like flute but more "legato" and soft
 
Wind, monophonic like "medieval old flute"
 
• RTphysic-sopra.pch : pedal, wheel, velocity sensitive
• RTphysic-sopra-b.pch : pedal, wheel, velocity sensitive - like sopra but when the pedal is max the tune change (you can produce a "titanic" like effect on the attack)

 
String, monophonic like "medieval expressive old string"
 
• RTphysic-viol-alt.pch : pedal, velocity
• RTphysic-viol-sopra.pch : pedal - like RTphysic-viol-alt but higher

String, polyphonic : these patch aren't real physic-modeling because pitch is fix by OSC, but the structure is the same as physic one to use body as a resonance part of the instrument :
 

• RTphysic-viol-bss.pch : bass string (can be improved ...)
• RTphysic-viol-ens1.pch : string standard
• RTphysic-viol-ens2.pch : string treble

The diagram bellow explain the parts of the physics patch (Physic-flute) :
 
 

• Exitator & resonator : Exitator build by an OSC used to generate pulse from the sync input, Resonator build by delays
the input of the delay is the output of the OSC exitator
the output of the delay goes to a filter to simulate the end of the tube
the output of the filter goes to the sync (after few adjustments) to simulate the comeback of the wave and have the physic effect !
• Tuning part : to translate the key value in a pitch information for the resonator (delay)
• Vibrato : standard to add modulation to the sound
• Random pitch : add a little instability in the sound like a real player
• Output : normalize level
• Reference tune : a simple osc to give a tune reference to tune the patch

For most of the patch the pitch is not fixed by modular OSC but by the Tuning part of the patch so the tune can be wrong and can't be right for all the playing range of a piano keyboard. There is a simple way to "tune" the patch :

• active the tune ref (knob 18)
• start by E4 and turn knob 7 to adjust pitch
• then do G4 and knob 10, C5 knob 11, E5 knob 12, G5 knob 9
• and do C4 with knob 8
• desactive tune ref (knob 18)
• if you did it in this way you have now a tow octave physic-patch tuned !
