Arpeggiation?

So... Is it possible to do arpeggiation on the modular? Ie, if I press two keys down at the same time it would repeat those two, if I pressed down three in sequence it would repeat those in sequence, etc. I know you can do sequences, but as far as I can tell those are specified as a part of the editor, not "on the fly" from the keyboard.

The NM does not have an arpeggiator function build in. Its also not easy to build a classic arpeggiator in a patch, it is possible to store pressed notes with S&H modules and sort them, but its hardly possible to detect whether a key has been released and remove that key from the arpeggio. To my knowledge a classic arpeggiator patch has not been published on this list.

But there are several other possibilities, Jim Clark has published interesting patches and I must have published some myself. These patches are variations, e.g. they store the last number of pressed keys and play these in some sort of pattern. But if you want a classic arpeggio you have to use a MIDI keyboard with an arpeggio function.

Here is an example of a variation. It sequences through the last three notes played. Knob1 makes you switch between 'program' mode where new notes are stored in the sequence or transpose mode. Knob 2 starts or stops the clock.

Actually, Rob, the arpeggiator patch that I posted some time back IS a "classic" arpeggiator. It uses the note-detect modules and scans them, so when a key is released it is removed from the arpeggio. Due to memory limitations the arpeggiator only has a 12-note range, but it is still lots of fun. I don't have the arpeggiator patch on my machine here at work, so those interested will have to dig the patch out of the archives. It was called arpeg!.pch, I believe.
