Fun with partial generators

I finally got around to using the Partial Generator module. It's quite handy for controlling multiple sine oscs to generate harmonic steps. Hmmm... I bet it works well for controlling a vocal filter with the resonance cranked up, for wind chime effects...

...and here's another patch with Partial Generators.

A few tips I've learned about using this module:

  1. Use a positive-going control signal. You can use a level shifter, offset module, or a control mixer with a constant module to convert a bipolar LFO to unipolar.
  2. To set the range of harmonics produced, use a control mixer to adjust the level of the sweep (from an LFO, for example) and then add more offset from a Constant if you want to shift the range to higher harmonics (like 3rd through 7th instead of fundamental through 5th).
  3. You can use the S/H module to force the steps to occur at a specified triggered timing, rather than just whenever the control signal crosses the next step threshold. This also gives you a way to trigger EGs at each new step.
