Random access to Sequencer

Hi All,
Now Jan has sorted out my dissapearing notes (thanks Jan), here are the patches I was itching to send to the list. They demonstrate a mechanism for random access to sequencer modules that is simpler, cheaper, more general and more flexible than my previous jump sequencer approach. The mechanism uses a signal to specify the current desired index into the controlled sequencer, so LFOs, envelopes, oscillators, audio inputs or anything else can be used to index the controlled sequence. Sequences can be made to move backwards, bounce backwards and forwards or jump around arbitrarily - the sequencer effectively becoming a chunk of ROM. I've kept the attached patches simple so it's easy to see what's going on, but there is a lot that can be done with this.

This was pointed out some time back (more than a year ago) by Thierry Rochebois. The results of his experiments can be found in the Nord Modular document
Modular Technical Survey (scroll down past the vocal filter plots to get to the oscillator spectrum plots)Thierry found the aliasing that you describe in most of the oscillators, but found that the Spectral Oscillators have very low aliasing.

Thanks Jim - I really liked the previous patches so I can't wait to try these. The sequencers in the NM are very powerful - I've been making some patches with each sequencer doing several different tasks in combination with the logic modules.
Talking of things disappearing, has anyone had problems reloading patches? I put together one today and did a long jam, only to discover that my audio recorder had crashed :( So I rebooted, cleaned up the disk, defragged blah blah and then went back to the patch, only to be greeted by a kick drum and nothing else. Everything was triggering as it was supposed to, but none of the controls worked, even the mixer controls. I made several tests and attempts to revive it, but no luck. I did crash the Micro modular several times during the design (a '-' in the display), mostly by changing morph assignments in between tweaks. But every time this happened I just restarted it and downloaded the patch with no trouble.
Fortunately, I had a back up :) with most of the work I'd done and that loaded OK. The power of this thing just amazes me...I just recorded a 15 minute trance jam with just the micro modular, no FX, no sequencer, no keyboard(!) If I were to sequence the major changes and restrain myself to 8 minutes I'd be comfortable releasing it as a slice of acid techno. All this from one patch - the mind boggles.
Here's the patch for those who want to play - some of the transitions might sound a bit rough, and the layout is untidy, I was in a hurry to record so I reconstructed half a day's lost work in an hour. Read the notes.
