Trigger Problem

I was trying to create a sample/hold style patch yesterday, so I used the "trigger" output of the Keyboard module to connect to a step sequencer input, and the sequencer output to modulate the filter cutoff point. The goal was to have the sequencer step each time I pressed a key. However, what I got instead was a 1:6 ratio of keyboard steppings. That is, I'd have to play 6 notes before the sequencer would step to the next step.

So what am I doing wrong? Shouldn't I get a 1:!?

I think that when Jim Aiken reviewed the Modular for Keyboard he encountered the same problem. I don't remember his solution although he mentioned it in the review...maybe using the delay module...?

You selected 6 Voices, so you can choose: select only one Voice or play 6 note chords J In the Editor you just see one Voice. The Modular plays them after each other, because it is doing only one thing in that Patch.

When I come to think to it, when recording into NoteSequencerB, all 16 Parameters are set by each keypress, but, when set to 4 Voices,

So how do I "fix" it so that no matter how many voices I have I can cause the sequencer to step for each note pressed? Or is it even possible?

Hmmm... A few half baked ideas....

Try this: remove the filter from the voice section of the patch, and put it in the lower section of the screen. Then, connect the output of the Keyboard module to a pulse generator module, set to a fast pulse. Then use this fast pulse to trigger the sequencer (also in the lower screen) and connect the sequencer out to the filter in. You can connect the pulse out to the sequencer in by routing the signal through one side of the modules that connect the top screen to the bottom screen.

I don't know if you can put a second keyboard module in the lower screen. If you can, this allows you to also put the pulse module down there and frees up both sides of the stereo jacks connecting the two screens, so you can send a stereo signal if you want. Let us know if it works.

Try the Keyboard Patch Module. I *think* the Patch Gate output gives a gate for *each* keypress regardless of set or actual polyphony.

Have a look at this, play up to eight keys chords.

I used the 'Patch gate' from the kbdpatch module to clock the step sequencer, and a sample and hold triggered by the gate on the kbd module.
