The man behind Arrhythmia, Darren Ferguson, first studied classical piano then later experimented with electronic music.
Influences include Art of Noise, Massive Attack, Future Sound of London, Black Star Liner, Transglobal Underground and the Hip Hop genre.
This CD is very hard to describe, it combines many different styles in a unique way. We think the artist explains it as well as we could. To be sure, this music is original and diverse.
Daren writes:
For me it was hearing the Art of Noise with all these strange sounds. Their use of the Fairlight sampler is what got me in to sampling; the idea that any sound could be used in music. Total creativity was available. Ethnic sounds from the Eastern World also fascinated me, especially the rhythms. These Eastern sounds combined with my love for Hip Hop and Trip Hop have shaped my sound.
Although Trip Hop and World sounds form the backbone of his sound what makes the Arryhthmia sound distinctive is use of voices as another instrument.
I didn’t want Arrhythmia to be another group of beats thrown together. I wanted to move people with sounds that they couldn’t describe or believe existed
The future?
Playing live is where it’s at, surrounded by air that you fill with overpowering bass and sounds to move the body in a mental and physical way.
