This sub-forum is for G2 patches that are suitable for General MIDI (GM). The idea would be to post one topic for each of the 128 GM patches. Good information about the General MIDI spec can be found here: http://jedi.ks.uiuc.edu/~johns/links/music/gm.htm

For example, if you have a trumpet patch that is suitable for GM patch #57. Look for a topic in this forum called "57 - Trumpet". If one doesn't exist, then post a new topic with that subject.

It is OK to add patches to topics that already have a patch or patches. Some patches are better for some situatations than others.

It's possible to for the administrators to put links to other G2 patch forums. For example, if you post a piano patch here, we can link it also the the "G2 Patches - Completed, Pianos" forum.

I'm fairly new, so I'm reluctant to give too many suggestions right off the bat, but here goes: according to the general midi spec, there are 8 instruments per category. Since there are 16 groups, it would probably be more economical to try and create patches that can emulate an entire group using the patch's 8 variations. Granted, some would be easier than others (and the effects and ethnic instruments would probably be challeging to get all from one patch). I was just thinking it would be easier to keep 16 patches stored than 128.

This little project never took of. The original suggester later claimed it was a joke, but I think it's a good idea none-the-less. Your's is a good suggestion.

Wow, I didn't even look at the date of your original post. Surprised Boy, I'm arriving late to the game.

Well, that's one way to look at it. One could say the game has just been waiting around for you to arrive.

Anyway, welcome aboard. welcome
